Maggie Valley’s central location makes it a perfect base for year-round adventure. Day trips to Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Pisgah National Forest, and the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway offer something memorable for every member of the family.
For a closer escape, Lake Junaluska which is just off Soco Road is a hidden gem open to the public. Enjoy swimming, golf, boating, and more at very reasonable rates. The Haywood County Visitors Center sits just inside the entrance, and free parking is plentiful near The Terrace Hotel.
One of the area’s best free activities is walking the lakeside trail. Choose the inner loop at 2.3 miles, the outer loop at 3.8 miles, or simply stroll as far as you like and turn back. Along the way, beautifully maintained gardens and sweeping mountain views reward every step, and a sunset from Inspiration Point is an absolute must for photographers.
